Then in 2006, he again ran for the mayor election and won in it against Ronald Rice, and in 2010, he was re-elected. 

When he served as a mayor, he reduced the Newark crime rate and improved the infrastructure and services. Corey has also reduced the city budget deficit by over $ 100 million. He has launched the Let’s Move! When he was mayor for the first term, the Newark program, and then in his second term, Cory rescued the woman from the house fire and saved the dog from the freezing temperatures. In 2013, he was announced as the candidate for Lautenberg’s seat, and he won the election and was named the first African American to be selected as Senator. He also won in the 2014 and 2020 elections.
