As the Instagram account’s owner, Ebiowei Porbeni, wanted to provide an inside look at the healthcare industry, he often shared memes and hilarious anecdotes about his time as a nurse. The page was established in 2017 and has since served as a forum for recruiting nurses. Despite having over 1.2 million followers, the Instagram account has been made private. Previously, Ebi Eats had a personal Instagram account, which has now been deactivated. Online memorials are pouring in for Ebi Eats, a nurse and social media celebrity who passed away last week following a courageous battle with illness.
Who Is Ebi Eats?
Ebiowei Porbeni, as “NurseLifeRN” or “Ebi Eats” on social media, was a well-known figure in the medical field. When he was nine, the young Ebiowei Porbeni uprooted from Nigeria and settled in Chicago. After graduating from Malone, he worked as an intensive care unit nurse at UCLA. His Instagram account, which goes by the name @nurselifern, has over 1.2 million followers because of the amusing memes and anecdotes he posts about his life as a nurse. After his death, @ebi eats and his account seem to have been made private. Besides his job as a nurse and on social media, Ebi hosted a podcast called Nurse Speak.
Ebi Eats Was Diagnosed With Leukemia
Ebi was diagnosed with leukaemia back in September 2019. His Instagram post announcing the illness detailed his experience with the first days of treatment. In addition to the article, he then established a GoFundMe page to cover the cost of his healthcare. Following the publication of the Instagram post on the 16th, he expressed his gratitude for the love and support. He mentioned that it would take the next several weeks or months to heal, and the money will cover the medical costs and maintain his life. He appreciated everyone’s support. As of this writing, $254,000 has been donated to the GoFundMe campaign.
Tributes Pour In Following the Death of Ebi from Leukemia
Ebi, who had been fighting leukaemia for less than a year, died last Thursday (July 22nd). With deep emotions, we are heartbroken to say Ebi died away Tuesday afternoon surrounded by family and friends. His social media coordinator, Emily, posted on Instagram to confirm the news. We can confirm that being a part of the @nurselifern community has positively affected his life. She also said that his loved ones had asked that his privacy be respected.
