Colton started his career as a professional football player on May 10, 2014, when he signed as an undrafted free agent in San Diego Chargers. Then he joined the outside linebacker on August 30, 2014. On September 3, 2014, he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad. On December 29, 2014, he signed a contract with the Chargers and played in preseason games for the team. 

In his debut matches in NFL, he earned two tackles; on September 5, 2015, Chargers surrendered him, and he was placed on injured reserve the next day. On September 10, 2015, his injured reserve was taken back. Colton joined the Raiders on December 1, 2015, but he was not added to the roster, and he was placed in the practice squad and waived on August 29, 2016.
